Morocco Tours: Private Sahara, Imperial City and Atlas Itineraries

Morocco Magics is a Moroccan-owned tour operator based in Marrakech that designs private and small-group tours across the Sahara Desert, the Imperial Cities and the Atlas Mountains. We run trips from 3 to 14 days, departing from Marrakech, Casablanca and Fes, with our own drivers, licensed guides and vetted desert camps.

Every itinerary below is a real route we operate. Every one can be modified — the durations are starting points, not fixed departures.

Morocco Magics: A Moroccan-Owned Tour Operator Based in Marrakech

Morocco Magics is registered and headquartered at 33 Sidi Bouloukat, Marrakech 40040, and operates tours across the whole of Morocco. The agency is 100% Moroccan-owned and staffed by local Amazigh (Berber) guides who work in the regions they come from.

Three things define how we operate:

  • Local ownership. We are not a reseller. Our drivers, guides and camp partners are contracted directly, which is why itineraries can change mid-trip when weather or your pace requires it.
  • Direct support during travel. Our Marrakech office is reachable throughout your trip, and every group has a named contact from airport pickup to departure.
  • Community and environmental commitment. We work with locally owned riads and desert camps, and our Erg Chebbi camps operate on solar power with managed water and waste.

Where Our Morocco Tours Travel

Morocco holds four distinct travel landscapes within a country crossable by road in two days, and our itineraries are built to combine at least three of them.

The Sahara Desert: Merzouga and Erg Chebbi

The Sahara is reached from Merzouga, the village at the western edge of the Erg Chebbi dune field, where dunes rise to roughly 150 metres. Our desert nights combine a camel trek at sunset with a camp stay under open sky.

The Imperial Cities: Marrakech, Fes, Meknes and Rabat

The Imperial Cities are the four historic royal capitals of Morocco. Marrakech holds Jemaa el-Fna and the largest souk network in the country. Fes holds Fes el-Bali, one of the world's largest car-free urban areas. Meknes and Rabat complete the set, with Rabat serving as the modern capital.

The Atlas Mountains and the Southern Valleys

The Atlas Mountains separate the coast from the desert and are crossed on every one of our Sahara itineraries. The route passes the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 metres, the UNESCO-listed ksar of Aït Benhaddou, and the Dades and Todra gorges.

The Atlantic Coast and the North

The coast and the north add Essaouira, a fortified Atlantic port with a UNESCO-listed medina, Chefchaouen, the blue-washed town in the Rif Mountains, and Tangier on the Strait of Gibraltar. These regions appear on our 10- and 14-day itineraries.

How Our Morocco Tours Work

A Morocco Magics tour is a fully organised itinerary that includes transport, accommodation, a driver and guiding, from your arrival airport to your departure airport.

Private Tours and Small-Group Tours

A private tour runs on your own schedule with a dedicated driver-guide and vehicle, and the itinerary can be altered during the trip. A small-group tour shares the vehicle and guide with other travellers on a fixed route, lowering the cost per person.

Private tours suit families, couples and anyone travelling with children or older relatives. Small-group tours suit solo travellers and those who want company on the road.

What Every Morocco Magics Tour Includes

Every tour includes private ground transport in an air-conditioned vehicle, a licensed English-speaking driver-guide, accommodation with breakfast, desert camp accommodation with dinner and breakfast on Sahara itineraries, and the camel trek where the route includes one.

Tours exclude international flights, lunches, monument entrance fees, and tips for guides and drivers.

Accommodation: Riads, Kasbahs and Desert Camps

A riad is a traditional courtyard house converted to small guest accommodation, and it is the standard city stay on our itineraries. In the southern valleys we use restored kasbahs, and in Erg Chebbi we use desert camps with private tents and en-suite bathrooms on our premium tiers.

Guides, Drivers and Vehicles

Our drivers are professional Moroccan drivers who know the Atlas and desert routes, and our city guides are licensed by the Ministry of Tourism and carry a numbered badge. Vehicles range from air-conditioned sedans and minivans to 4x4s for the Erg Chigaga crossing.

Licensed guiding matters practically: unlicensed guides in Moroccan medinas operate on shop commission, which is why independent visitors are routinely steered toward the wrong purchases.

What a Morocco Tour Costs

A Morocco tour with Morocco Magics starts at $180 per person for a 3-day desert trip and reaches $2,560 per person for a 10-day heritage itinerary. Price is driven by four factors: trip length, private versus shared vehicle, accommodation tier, and group size — per-person cost falls significantly from two travellers to four.

When to Travel: Choosing Your Departure Season

The best months for a Morocco tour are March to May and September to November, when interior daytime temperatures sit in the low-to-mid 20s °C and desert nights stay comfortable. We operate year-round with seasonal adjustments: summer itineraries shift activity to early morning and evening and favour the coast and the Atlas, and winter itineraries add extra bedding at desert camps, where night temperatures approach freezing.

Planning Your First Trip to Morocco

First-time visitors to Morocco need to settle four things before booking: entry requirements, currency, dress expectations and trip length. Most travellers from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and the European Union enter Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days. The currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD), a closed currency that cannot reliably be bought before arrival.
